Document Summary

April 5 and 7, class done by alex fu. Small molecule that binds to a site other than the catalytic site. Reduces ability of substrate to bind to the protein. An effector that can slow down the activity of an enzyme. Controls binding of the substrate to its enzyme. If atp binds to the ligase = more production of product. Lots of product = can negatively impede the mechanism. Atp binding will increase the relative velocity of the reaction compared to the vo without atp. Orange = increase in velocity if atp binds to the quaternary protein. Ctp = if ctp binds, decrease in velocity. Generally want atp concentration and ctp concentration equal. Increases [ctp], decrease in vo relative to non modulated. Increase [atp], increase in vo relative to non modulated. Decrease relative vo compared to vo without ctp. Both atp and ctp floating around just depends of what there is more of.
