Various sources: muscle receptors, skin receptors, sense of balance/vestibular system. Helps keep you stable and gives you the information to help keep you stable gives you an idea of where your head is in space and how your head is moving/accelerating through space (ex. Language of nervous system (code): nerves send pulses of adequate length and speed. When you move your head over to one side its like jello sagging forwards/sideways causes cells to bend and the nerves start firing at an increased rate. Semicircular canals twist your head in one direction the liquid in the ears will speed up/twist in the other direction the liquid slows down. When you stop spinning your eyes will take note that you have stopped but the vestibular system keeps spinning therefore they do not align.
