Document Summary

With the rise of social media and online news, televised news channels are beginning to have competition. Dominating in both sectors we have, now current president donald trump. He used social media to his benefit to gain supporters and power over his competition which thus gave him the title of being the 45th president of the united states. In this paper, i will be analysing the trump election and the effects social media has had over journalism and news coverage. In this case, we can conclude that social media has had a positive effect on trump"s partisan affiliation but negative effects on televised news channels, where they are seen to have decreasing ratings (beam, 2016) To give background on the situation, presidential campaigning for the 2016 elections started as early as 21 months before election day (slate. com). Of course, the election to begin with brought on attention, it was what came later that would cause chaos.
