ANP 1107 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Lipoprotein Lipase, Adipose Tissue, Fatty Acid Metabolism
Document Summary
Nutrition, metabolism & body temperature regulation part 2. Dynamic state: organic molecules (except dna) are constantly broken down and rebuilt and organs have different fuel uses. Source for resynthesize body protein, form amino acid derivatives, gluconeogenesis. Differ from amino acid pool by fats&carbs are oxidized directly to produce energy. Absorptive(fed) state: after eating absorption of nutrients + anabolism exceeds catabolism. Excess glucose -> glycogen or stored as fat for storage. Excess amino acids -> deamination used for atp synthesis/ stored as fat. Lipoprotein lipase: hydrolyzes triglycerides of chylomicrons to glycerol + free fatty acids. Ffa&glycerol move to the adipose tissue, skeletal muscle, liver converted back to triglycerides for storage. The exorocine part: made of the acini secrete digestive juices into duodenum by special ducts. The endocrine part: made of the islets of langerhans release insulin, glucagon and other hormones directly to blood. Insulin: (cid:862)the islet su(cid:271)sta(cid:374)(cid:272)e(cid:863) secreted by pancreas (b-cells of langerhans)-stimulated by high blood level of glucose.
