ANP 1106 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Biceps, Triceps Brachii Muscle, Bicipital Groove
Document Summary
Anp1106 muscles crossing the shoulder and elbow joints. Triceps brachii (posterior muscle) large fleshy muscle the only muscle of the posterior compartment of arm, 3 headed radial nerve innervation. Origin: 1st head (long) infraglenoid tubercle of scapula, 2nd head (lateral) posterior shaft of humerus, 3rd head (medial) posterior humeral shaft distal to radial groove insertion olecranon of the ulna. Powerful forearm extensor and helps stabilize the shoulder joint. 2 headed fusiform muscle, bellies unite at insertions. Origin: coracoid process (short head, supraglenoid and glenoid cavity (long head) intertubercular sulcus of humerus (shoulder) insertion radial tuberosity (radius) flexes the elbow joint and supinates the forearm. Weak flexor of the arm at shoulder. Brachialis strong muscle deep to the biceps brachii. Major forearm flexor, very strong lifts the ulna as biceps lift the radius insertion coronoid process of the ulna, and capsule of elbow joint. Brachioradialis superficial muscle of the lateral forearm extending from the distal humerus to the distal forearm.
