Document Summary

The basic element of a database is a field. A group of related fields is a record. A table is a group of related records of the same type. The database is a group of the related tables. It can have as many relations as the user wants. Sometimes different tables can have relations between each other. The key is a unique number for each item. A primary key is the main key in a table. A foreign key is just a primary key that comes from a different table. Dss or eis = database + model + interface. It was used for analytical and transactional operations which was hard for the system. This was done to separate reporting and analysis from transaction in order to maximise the performance of both needs. This is now being used for decision making.
