Learning- relatively permanent changes in an employee"s knowledge or skills that result from experience. Decision making- the process of generating and choosing from a set of alternatives to solve a problem. Expertise- knowledge and skills that distinguish experts from novices and less experienced people. Tacit knowledge: knowledge that is learned through experience, difficult to describe; knowledge in practice and in action, ex. Operant conditioning we learn by observing the link between our voluntary behaviour and the consequences that follow it. An unwanted outcome is removed following a desired behaviour. Perform task properly so you are not reprimanded (3) punishment. Removal of a positive consequence following an unwanted behaviour. Schedules of reinforcement: continuous- occurs every time behaviour occurs, fixed interval- ex. Sales person, based on selling targets: variable ratio- ex. Social learning theory- people in organizations learn through observation of others. Behavioural modelling- employees observe the actions of others, learn from what they observe, then repeat the observed behaviour.
