When reconstitute med- change its constitution, change from powder to liquid. It has a short shelf life, usually 24 to 48 hrs after mixing. Example : dr. order ancef 1 g iv q 12 hr. Get rid of the crystals at bottom of vial (can lead to embolism or clogging of tubing) Choices of minibag = 50 ml sodium chloride and dextrose.
