In 1955, collins et al. developed a method to measure the growth rate of tumours: collin"s law defined the risk of tumour recurrence as the age of the child at diagnosis plus 9 months. Goal is to remove the primary tumour with clear resection margins. Relies on early diagnosis (before secondary tumours occur) Attempts to minimize damage to organs and/or reconstruction. Adenocarcinomas are the most common malignancy of colon cancer. Right and left hemicolectomy bowel recession, remove left or right side and reconnect other parts together. Transverse colectomy tumour is in the middle of the colon, has not spread, can impact the body itself: side effects pain, bleeding, vomiting, diarrhea, infection, etc. Adenocarcinomas are the most common malignancy in the stomach (90% of cases) Gastric cancer peaks in the older population ~70 years of age. Three important factors: location of tumour, size of extend of tumour, histology pattern of the tumour.
