Digestive system functions: (she didn"t mention this on the video) : the digestive system basically breaks down the food that we ingest ( the food we consume basically) Prepares it for uptake by the body"s cell ( prepares it for the cell to take in the food,) Eliminates waste ( basically the leftover that comes out of our body) The gi tract consist of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, the small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus. The gi tract consist of four layer, from inside out--- mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and serosa. Each layer have different thickness and have sublayers. The enteric nerve plexuses control a network of intrinsic factor that control, secretion, mobility, sensation and blood flow. ( not too important) Enteric plexus is located in different location of gi tract.
