Document Summary

Parasympatheic: rest and digest dominant controller of most autonomic efectors most of the ime. Sympatheic: ight or light serving as an emergency system. Sensory (aferent) funcion: monitors internal and external environment in the periphery and sends it to the cns. Motor funcion: cns controls response to the changes in the environment so that homeostasis is maintained. Involuntary control of certain systems in the body: cardiac, respiratory, digesive, urinary, metabolism. All autonomic neurons funcion in relex arcs; called autonomic relexes or visceral relexes. Eferent autonomic regulaion ulimately depends on feedback from sensory receptors. Most systems afected by both divisions of the ans to allow for precise control of efector issue. One system always simulates and the other one inhibits (brake/accelerator) Autonomic ganglia: collecion of cell bodies outside the cns. Autonomic plexuses: groups of nerves travelling to the same general direcion. Serving as an emergency system- the ight-or-light reacion. Dominant controller of most autonomic efectors most of the ime.
