Find that developed countries use considerably more resources to maintain a modern life-style than developing countries which have higher pop. but poorer quality of life. I(cid:374)(cid:272)e (cid:374)atural or e(cid:272)ologi(cid:272)al (cid:858)rules(cid:859: an affluent lifestyle is not sustainable. Ipat model = shows environmental impact of a person, population or business by including population size, affluence (excessive use of resources) and technology: measured using the ecological footprint model. Technology can increase impact but it can also decrease the impact be a solution. Include both population and consumption effect that lie at the root of many environmental impacts. If everyone on earth had a footprint like canada, we would need more than 3 earths. If everyone on earth had a footprint like kenya, we would be using about half the (cid:272)urre(cid:374)t earth(cid:859)s resour(cid:272)es.
