BIOL 1010U Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Cell Membrane, Kinesin, Zebrafish
Document Summary
Textbook reference: chapter 10 in biology how life works (2nd ed. ) 200 206 and 10. 4 pp. 210 to 214. Note: section 10. 4 was required reading for quiz 4 and is testable material. You may use the file entitled cellular junction type learning matrix posted on blackboard to summarize the information if you wish. Tissues are collections of cells that work together to perform a specific function. Two or more tissues combined and functioning together form an organ. The shape and structural integrity of tissues and organs depend on the ability of cells to adhere to one another. Tissue a collection of cells that work towards similar function. Cytoskeleton in animals, the shape of cells determined and maintained by structural protein networks is the cytoskeleton. Extracellular matrix adhere to a meshwork of proteins and polysaccharides outside o the cell. The adhesion of cells to one another depends on cell adhesion molecules and other cytosolic proteins that assemble into structures called cellular junctions.
