A police officer has authority to act as such throughout Ontario.

Criteria for Hiring
43. (1)
No person shall be appointed as a police officer unless he or she,
Is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
A.
Is at least eighteen years of age;
B.
Is physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having
regard to his or her own safety and the safety of members of the public;
C.
Is of good moral character and habits; and
D.
has successfully completed at least four years of secondary school education or
its equivalent.

(2) A candidate for appointment as a police officer shall provide any relevant
information or material that is lawfully requested in connection with his or
