FCSS*1000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: British National Vegetation Classification
Document Summary
Lesson 3: learning in and with the community. Well-functioning communities are vital to maintaining a good and progressive society. Being a part of a community is like joining a team. We all have our roles and these roles are interdependent (forgood, 2014). One way to consider community is geographically; that is, to imagine a city, or region, or province, or country serving as our community. For example, the city of waterloo can be your community, and within that space you can develop other communities, e. g. , a university community, a music- based community, a religious or ethnic community. Those communities in turn offer possibilities for their own sub-communities, such as the local jazz scene, or the campus. It is important to be aware of the services offered to members of a given community. At both the provincial and local levels there are a variety of services available. The range, scope, and administration of these services varies widely.
