Document Summary

Conflict tactics scale research: males = females in frequency & severity of self-reported violent behaviour, moser (2012) saint john, nb, females inflicted less injury on their partner, but level of intended violence was similar to males. Ipv over 5 year period (canada - victim perspective) Honeymoon often have poor anger management skills, low assertiveness, strong need for control, and are frequently excessively jealous most try to excuse, justify, or minimize their actions. Has been used as a defense for violence directed at an abusive partner, however: research finds no single profile of a battered woman, not a well validated clinical construct, rarely successfully used in court now. Being followed, repeatedly contacted or watched at home/work, to the point that it gives the victim good reason to fear for his/her personal safety or of family. Stalking represents about 4% of violent crime in canada.
