Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is defined based on its inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. The prevalence rate of adhd is 5%, however due to misdiagnosis and undocumented cases some professionals believe it could be 12%. the ratio is. 5:1 (males: females) with males predominantly showing hyperactive impulsive type. In order for a diagnosis to take place the apa criteria must be met and the symptoms must be present for more the 6 months. Adhd currently classifies as one of symptoms presentations: adhd predominantly inattentive, adhd predominantly hyperactive impulsive, adhd combined. Can not pay close attention to details; makes careless mistakes often. Gets out of their seat and wanders a lot. Adhd combined is the most severe form since the child would be struggling with both symptoms. Students with adhd often exhibit doctor"s office affect , their symptoms don"t appear as obvious in formal, 1:1 setting of doctor"s office and often don"t get proper investigation from doctor in that setting.
