Higher correlation coefficients= increased ability to predict one variable based on the other. If findings due to chance are very low (less than 5/100) it"s called statistical significance. Subject bias: placebo effect, hawthorn effect, social desirability bias, halo effect, response set. Double blind experiment: neither researcher or participants know which group received treatment and which did not. Meta-analysis: a study of many studies that combines statistical results of many studies asking the same question. It offers an estimate of the size and consistency of a variable"s effects. Treat human subjects respectfully in a way that will maintain their dignity and rights, care for the welfare of animal subjects, and be scrupulously honest in reporting findings.
