Document Summary

The degree to which a survey statistic differs from its true value due to imperfections in the way the statistic is collected. Inaccurate responses to statements/questions due to poor question wording, poor interviewing, faulty assumptions, imperfect scales, etc. No response from people we contact who would have provided different answers to questions than those who did not response. The examination of the distribution of cases of only one variable. Descriptive purpose. One- way frequency distributions. Measure of the average" or typical" value of a variable. Mode: most frequent value. Mean: the sum of all the attributes of a variable divided by the total # of cases. Median: middle value in the ranked distribution of observed values. Even sample: median add up and divide. There is a lot of heterogeneity in these values and is not that prevalent. 3,4,7 and 9 are almost as frequent. The mean is too high because it is being influenced by an extreme value.
