Document Summary

Early exposure to light turns on genes in the visual cortex. Without early visual exposure, these genes remain dormant. Cataracts children with cataracts are exposed to some light, some genes are activated and some genes in the visual cortex are beginning so need to be directed quickly before permanent damage occurs. Dark-rearing mice get no light at all (can delay turning on of this gene) Genes are not the only factor that determines a child"s phenotype. Experience affects the way that genes are expressed in an individual. Comes from a family that had moved around through foster strict diet homes, no strict. Identical twin 2 is probably more aggressive due to being passed around in foster home. Identical twin 1 is probably not obese since he/she is put through strict diet.
