E. g. someone who"s in high neuroticism may process information more negatively and perceive environment as more threatening: within individual: internal aspect, we make inference about personality by examining behavior, organized: everything comes together to form a functioning person. Exception is personality disorder/mental illness: relatively enduring: extent to which personality traits are stable over time, influences: personality is influential. Yes- seems to have influence on behavior over time, not specific instances: interactions with, adaptation to environment: explains way of thinking in a number of different domains. All of these things come together that allow the person to function in the world, with exception of personality disorder. Levels of analysis: human nature: how we are like all others. Traits and mechanisms of personality that are typical of our species and possessed by nearly everyone. Example: our prosocial tendencies (everyone is social in nature)
