Document Summary

Psyc 102 - introductory psychology - lecture 12: intelligence 2. Had to develop a test that would be able to separate the intelligence potential between students who are doing well in class and students who aren"t doing well in class. Being able to anticipate whether the student is able to do well in school. Mental age of 5: getting more questions right than child in the age of 4: stern"s ratio formula for iq. Ratio because you"re dividing mental age by the chronological age. Mental ages don"t grow forever, in fact they level off pretty early. Around age 16, you"re brain performs at the max and level offs after that. If chronological age is getting bigger, the formula is indicating that people who are over 16 are less intelligent (which is not true) Important because the family could not afford to send every child to school.
