Heinous crimes require heinous punishment to deter - what needs to happen is that, in concern to the insufficient effect of punishments that are currently being used, we need worse punishment. Natural to lynch in response to rape - natural human response, reaction, need to do this. Sober, orderly (rationalization) - media used words like. They are cool, they knew what they were doing, they are believable and trustable.
