History used to be based on a circular model. History will only repeat itself time and time again. The concept of linear history is attributed to immanual kant. Kant never left konigsberg, prussia (currently kaliningrad, russia) The idea for a universal history from a cosmopolitan point of view. Concept of history as a teleological enterprise. To kant, history is development of human capacities to perfection. From a distance, their actions actually have a pattern. Distance could be achieved by enough time and number. He sees people as being very childish. Implying that they will eventually grow up. All natural capacities of a creature are destined to evolve completely to their natural end. Without this assumption, everything will be without order and very chaotic. Nature has a purpose in store for humans. To be developed in a race, not in an individual. To develop one"s reason to its fullest extent will take a considerable length of time.
