Before i begin norcross" response, let us re-examine the grounds in which we humans define ourselves to have superior ethical status than animals. Many philosophers have pointed out the key differences between humans and animals which allow humans to be a superior species. According to bonnie steinbock, people are not compelled to discriminate among others due to different capacities, but the significant difference in capacity between humans and animals justifies the greater moral status of humans above animals. Similarly, mary warren argues that humans are the only species that are moved to action by the force of reason. Lastly, carl cohen argues that since humans engage in moral reflection, are morally autonomous, and recognise just claims against their own self-interest, we must have different rights than any other animals. These claims of human superiority as a species helps further norcross" argument of the texan"s case.
