The origins of agriculture in the ancient near east. Agriculture had the greatest impact on the development of human life. Also includes the domestication of plants and animals. Old world --> agriculture is thought to have it"s beginnings in the near east (as they were believed to be the first one to domesticate animals and plants) Agriculture developed over a slow period of time (slow development) --> it took people time to understand plant domestication and the benefits/potentials to domestication on their way of life. Neolithic revolution (essentially the agricultural revolution) --> marks the shift in domestication of plants and animals, however it is important to note that although it sounds like it happened really quickly, it actually happened over a slow period. Once agriculture became a common means, it spread widely through the. Middle east --> took 3000 years for everyone in the middle east to adopt to an agricultural way of life.
