NEST 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Photogrammetry, Radiometer, Nimrud
Document Summary
Bestansur, iraqi kurdistan, and magnetic gradiometry survey of this site and its environs. Uavs or drones and their uses in archaeology. Used a uxgate radiometer on the site to perform a survey in 2012. Wanted to see the types of subsurface materials in order to pick where to dig. Dates back to the neo-assyrian period (7th century bce). Known from pottery - similar to sites like nimrud and nineveh. Photogrammetry was used in trench 14 here to create a 3d image. Likely where the neo-assyrian governor was posted. Take many aerial photographs (overlapping) to create a huge aerial photo.
