Document Summary

Kin 361 lecture 11 - spine: regions. Movement lined up to give us more rotation in our neck than other parts of our body: flexion, extension, side bending, rotation. Size is very large (small?) in comparison to thoracic. The orientation of the facet joints of the thoracic area of the vertebral column allow for which of the following movements side bending. Size of the spinal process indicates the amount of pressure placed on the area. The bigger the bone = the bigger the force and adaptation it has to make. Big space allows for a lot of extension. Flexion and extension all the way through the lumbar area. Facet joints: no rotation allowed in the lumbar area. Below 3 degrees in each space (is considered nothing) Muscles stabilize the pelvis (wants to be horizontal) Important to have powerful attachment at the transverse processes. Subluxation occurs if you fall or hit this area: vertebral structure/bodies.
