Industrialization ushered in era of unprecedented material abundance and prosperity. Reorganization of production; production used to be more dispersed. Now production and work concentrated in large factories; employ thousands of workers. One persons work replaced b assembly line responsible for one small part of the production. Change carried with it a psychological consequence work became more boring, and routine. Workers felt less proud of what they produced. Karl marx gave a name to that phenomenon alienation of labour/work; under capitalism workers became alienated from their product they laboured over; losing control over finished product. Worker owned only their labour, which they sold for wages. Industrial revolution had important reparation for society, politics, and family/ personal life. Industrialization fostered trend of urbanization, large scale migration from country to city, looking for jobs. Britain in 1800"s 50% of population lived in cities. Process of suburbanization; cities became magnets for poor people looking for better life. Cities became more crowded living standards fell.
