Slavery is no longer sanctioned by the government. People are selling human beings at the same sale as food, pins, needles, ribbons etc. As of 1820 - slavery still exists in the us, mainly in the south; caribbean; and brazil. Less dependent on slavery because it became less efficient than it had once been. Immoral for human beings to own and sell other human beings. The best way to get rid of slavery is step by step. This would help slavery die out - that was the hope. 1807 - abolition of the slave trade. 1794 - slavery abolished during the french revolution.
