Next thursday - rough draft of research proposal due for editing in class. How to summarize passages that are high or low level ideas that do not work with the tree disagreements method. Only high level ideas: provide details that is lacking, extract and low level details that are missing. Only low level ideas: create the overarching abstract ideas that are the top levels of the tree diagram. Move away from traditional comments on papers like: awkward, reword, confusing. More useful are comments that show the readers understanding of the writing, focusing in grammar and word choice, provides suggestions. Reader central - creating comments that help the readers understanding because writing is meant for the reader. Presupposing assumes the reader already knows something when they don"t.
