Many ceremonial locations originated from natural rock formations. They were singled out and made into special places for people. Created a space for bodies, resembled houses. Served as cremation burials in the upper levels and found wood on the bottom layers. Found lots of red deer anthers and scapula which were digging tools. Rock formations made it easy to chip away the blocks. The rocks has sockets which helped them stay together. Each a set of activities relates to a more or less coherent pattern of archaeological evidence. Dating each stage involves dating the events and activities assigned to it through vert+horizontal stratigraphy. **midterm - focus more on the theory and understanding how shit happens (site formation process, etc. ) Lined up the cemetery with the winter solstice.
