Kinship begins with a friend : kinship and relationships are not just biological/genetic. What is kinship: loyalty to others, self-identiication with a sort of group, closet people to you, family, the complex system of culturally deined social relationships based on marriage and birth. So, yes it may be blood relatives but can also be based on. What"s the diference between these two terms: kinship is lineage, family is the people who took care of you, kinship is a structural system. The notion of all the sets of relationships ie sister brother mother grandmother: family is the actual unit. Key terms: ainity (relations of marriage)/consanguity (relations of birth) Consanguinity people you are blood related too. Ainity who you"re married to (can also include their relatives: descent a cultural rule tying together people on the basis of reputed common ancestry . Principle of being descended: descent groups > lineage, patrilineal/matrilineal/unilateral, patrilocal (virilocal)/matrilocal residence.
