Population gets better nutrition by taking care of the cow. They can use milk/cheese etc. without taking the meat. Ray rappaport and pigs for the ancestors: population control. Various scholars and traditional ecological knowledge: every human population is full of contradictions. Human-nonhuman encounters: there are several actors that people like to encounter everyday ie going to the lake everyday. Anthropologists are interested in why people map out the world the way we do: keith basso and wisdom sits in places.
