Kelly 1996 - when it comes to visions to the future, forecasters can be divided into a variety of camps along a spectrum from prophets-of-doom to utopians prophets-of-doom: predict troubling times ahead. Numerous unresolved issues that will negatively impact our world in general, and inevitably trickle down to impact the leisure sector directly. Critical issue #1: the depletion (and ultimate disappearance) of the fossil fuel energy supply. The disappearance of these resources would greatly impact the transportation industry - personally and commercially. Also, a lack of petroleum (used to make computers, toys, synthetic clothing, crayons, etc. ) could make these materials much more expensive turning everyday items into luxuries.
