Low culture: culture of the masses thought to represent more unrefined mainstream tastes (popular culture) Pursuits taking on new meaning and importance. Can be influential in positive and negative ways. The way we interpret what we see and hear depends on multiple factors that make up our frame of reference (e. g. identity background, interests, experiences, friends, family, social context, etc. )
