Distinct period of persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and persistently increased activity or energy, lasting at least 4 days. During the mood disturbance, 3 (or more) of the following symptoms have been present (4 or more if mood is only irritable) Decreased need for sleep: more talkative than usual, or pressure to keep talking. Bipolar ii disorder, major depressive episodes alternate with hypomanic episodes.
