They cannot control what will happen: evolutionary perspective. We should be afraid of certain things. We also have threats that are not physical in nature but threaten our status and also threats that are purely imagined. For example, a nightmare feel fear as it may have felt very real. We can also struggle with the experience with the dear of itself. Amygdala is what triggers the thinking and fear.
