Health psychology is a hybrid discipline within psychology. Studying health, sickness, death are what make it about health. Clinical psychology, mental health and physical health often related. Social psych has a lot to say about health psychology (has biggest influence on health psychology after clinical psychology) Understanding control make situations that seem stressful, less stressful. Executive rats: 3 rats put in little boxes (see image in next slide) Last rat is just sitting in the box, nothing is happening to it. The shock continues until the first rat spins the wheel, the shock goes onto both rats at the same time. 2nd rats wheel doesn"t do anything, it"s not connected to the electrical wire. Shocks come at random intervals to both the rats and get exactly the same shocks, difference is only the first rat can shut them off. Studies shows that the second rat gets sick, the first rat doesn"t.
