Observational: natural structured: observing something about the human body, natural= watching children in their natural states. Watch children through the window in a room: structured= conditions, manipulation, comparison. Self-report: older children, surveys, introspect on themselves, studying parents influence. Case study: in-depth dive into one child/parent, freud, early psych was based off this. Looking time: lagging in the video vs. no lagging and observing how into the video the child is. Verbal responses: tricky because of the children"s ability to speak, anything a kid can do, they can be measured. Two groups of children and comparing the groups/clear manipulation between the synchronized and not synchronized speech. Longitudinal: one group of children and follow them through as they grow, multiple observations, tend to have less error=advantage, very expensive, and takes long times, repeated measures=disadvantage. Microgenetic: not very many, famous one= henry wellman. One group of children doing one task everyday the same thing. One group of children, measured them doing different things.
