Did various tasks with them where they had them talk about and categorize them. Surface level vs. deep features: the expert and novice kids talked the same amount about dinosaurs, but the experts knew more deep features, categorization explicit physical features vs. implicit features, knew more overall. Autism: deficits in 3 core areas of functioning. Facial features, struggle with emotional masking, identifying emotions. Some children with autism will never develop language. Brain overgrowth, lack of synaptic pruning, especially in the prefrontal cortex. Linked to cognitive and language deficits children with autism show.
