We"re going to begin by introducing the topic to you by talking about some of the main pieces of information that peo ple use when making decisions. We"re then going to move on to a very big area in the area of decision making, called heuristics. Heuristics can be thought of as mental shortcuts that help you arrive at a decision faster. Often, however, these mental sho rtcuts could cause the reasoner to arrive at an erroneous conclusion. We"re then going to briefly talk about some of the main models of decision making, and then finish by talking about some recent work looking at decision making in the brain. Let"s beg in by talking about some of the main sources of difficulty in making a decision .
