Insinct: a complex behaviour that is rigidly paterned throughout a species and is unlearned. Homeostasis: a tendency to maintain a balanced or constant internal state; the regulaion of any aspect of body chemistry, such as blood glucose, around a paricular level. Incenive: a posiive or negaive environmental simulus that moivates behaviour. Hierarchy of needs: maslow"s pyramid of human needs, beginning at the base with physiological needs that must irst be saisied before higher-level safety needs and then psychological needs become acive. Self-transcendence needs - need to ind meaning and idenity beyond the self. Self-actualizaion needs - need to live up to our fullest and unique potenial.
