Raymond cattell there are two different forms of intelligence. (fluid and crystal) They are distinct but related to one another. Fluid: how can they process and solve new situations or problems, does not rely on own experience or your past. Working memory is related to this as you can see what you can keep in your memory that was given to you in the past 2 minutes. Crystal: long term memory drawing associations with prior knowledge and what you already know from the past. Fluid intelligence is the pathway to crystalized intelligence. Fluid innate skills and crystalized is stored knowledge - you need both. Crystalized is experience dependent whereas fluid is not. And there is no perfect correlation between them.
