Document Summary
How psychologists incorporate biology into the study of behaviour: Breaking down of complex phenomena into simpler components. Begin with broad explanations and reduce to more narrow explanation (eg. memory) Reducing behaviour only to most basic elements - other info of interest may be overlooked, but makes it easier to test (eg. blushing) Society & culture (expectations and recollection) mental systems (short & long term memory) neurobehavioural processes (parts of the brain) Each element of humans interacts with the others. Behaviours is a result of complex set of interactive systems. System is comprised: bio (brain), psycho (behaviour process), social (supports) Study of complex exchange between genes and the environment. Genes - basic units of heredity composed of dna, located on chromosomes. Chromosomes - rod-shaped structures found in nucleus of every cell (23 pairs), carry genetic info. Dna (deoxyribonucleic acid) - molecule contains genetic code of organisms; determines characteristics of a living thing.
