Yerkes-dodson law: optimal performance requires matching level of arousal to task difficulty. Measuring arousal: galvanic skin response (gsr)- measures skins electrical conductivity. On easy task- moderate to medium levels of arousal. On difficult task- high levels of arousal- harder to achieve. Expectations of reaching a goal: social needs theories. Need for (a) achievement and (b) affiliation establish social relationship to feel fulfilled: extrinsic motivation.
