Make suburban aspects of metropolitan areas more excessive. Housing mainly concentrated in inner areas of toronto as condos and high rise as well as on the outer area mainly know as suburbs as detached homes. Mid- high rise developments extending to suburban areas. Single family homes only in the suburbs low density housing. Higher concentration of young adults in downtown toronto. People between 55-65 more concentrated in residential areas mainly suburbs. Difficult to define (low density, high automobile use, separation of uses) Urban way of living, cars, public transit, walking and bikes. Areas with high density in suburbs is where planners have identified vertical growth. Can be explained through ways of living. Theorize urbanism: can apply it to other places language of urban-suburban becomes insufficient so use nodes, corridors and fields. Nodes: centres, areas of concentrated activity e. g. downtown toronto.
