People in intersex debate saying it"s problematic to say humans are just male and female- there is something in between and we need to recognize at least a third category called intersex. People argue saying deafness is not a disease- just a human variation, shouldn"t think of it as a disease. These types of arguments can be applied to different issues like intersex. Feel that real body they belong in doesn"t have limbs- body dysmorphia. How do you define/understand health and illness and boundaries of those concepts. If you were to accept cosmetic surgery, very concerned that this conflicts with core duties of physician/medical practice. Misrepresentation of goals of medicine- operating medically on someone"s body when there"s no illness/disease. Enhancement- degrazia: using prozac just as legitimate as psychotherapy. So obsessed with their performance/achievement- we don"t let them enjoy their childhood. The more you get kids into this standard, ultimately hurts kids.
