As intellect decreases, number of pleasures decreases, and so does difficulty to be satisfied. As intellect increases, number of pleasures increases, and so does difficulty to be satisfied. What makes a good life a good life: beneficence - doing good for sake of doing good, excellence, meaning. That"s for you to determine because only you know what makes your life better off. Landau your life goes well to the extent that you are satisfied . 1: only if it satisfies your desires, because it satisfies your desires. Subjectivist view - no one gets to dictate which basic desires we should have because it is a personal matter. How can something make my life better if i don"t want it: ex. Hoffman"s genius cousin who got a phd in physics and decided to move to la and run a surf shop (+ live in it) Fulfilling my desires is necessary for something to be good for me.
