Music can have a huge impact on a lm combined with camera techniques, sound effects etc. to give you a very speci c way to interpret lm. Music can be a powerful guide in the way we interpret a lm. The musical accompaniment of narrative film: example, apollo 13 (1995) composer: james horner, watching the scene without music and then with music to see if our perceptions of the scene changes. It would have made it bigger and expand a scene. Or it can emotionally expand a scene but it adds another level of depth to a scene. It"s an intimate moment , that keeps it small and intense. I feel like this scene is showing us something we shouldn"t have seen. Like we are spying on her and watching something symbolic happen and not putting music in makes it more intense: with no sound: very little emotional response, tends to be very at.
